The Terry Smirl Sextet
The Terry Smirl Sextet consists of trumpet, saxophone, trombone, piano (or guitar), bass, and drums. Our performances typically include popular “standards” – Big Band Era favorites as well as Broadway tunes and other songs composed during the “Golden Age” of American popular song – that are perfect for dancing and casual listening, so they’re very appropriate for receptions, private parties, corporate events, etc. Many of these arrangements also work beautifully in concert settings. The three horns with rhythm section, along with a repertoire focused on standards, makes this band an economical alternative to a Big Band.
The sextet also has a additional repertoire of more esoteric jazz compositions that are most appropriate for jazz-specific venues: jazz clubs, festivals, concert halls, etc. We generally do not play tunes from the second list at receptions, corporate events, etc. unless requested to do so.

If you'd like to hear demos of the band, please contact us, and we will email short .mp3 files to you.
But wait, there's more! We can add a vocalist and and additional saxophone to make a 7-piece band with vocalist (8 musicians total).
